About Us

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, mutual-help, war-time veterans organization. A community-service organization which now numbers nearly 3 million members -- men and women -- in nearly 15,000 American Legion Posts worldwide. These Posts are organized into 55 Departments -- one each for the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico, and the Philippines.

Earl Graham Post 159, Bryan, Texas was organized in 1919. The charter members voted to name the Post in honor of First Lieutenant Cyrus Earl Graham, who served in the Army Air Corps and was killed in France just two days before the armistice was signed.

Our regular membership meeting is on the first Thursday of the month with a dinner at 7:00 p.m. and the meeting at 8:00 p.m.

Commander's Comment's

This school year is almost finished and we are pleased to recognize outstanding students for their academic achievement and demonstrated Americanism with Legion awards.  We have been alerted for award ceremonies at Brazos Christian on 9 May; A&M Consolidated High on 12 May; St. Joseph School on 20 May; Allen Academy on 20 May; St. Michael on 28 May.  I want to have more Legionnaires willing to volunteer to be a presenter or to accompany the presenter at the awards ceremony.  I know it will be a good experience for you.  Please contact Legionnaire Wes Wynn, Adjutant John Hince, or me for time and place.
